A Toyota 86 was completely engulfed in flames on Phoenix Highway in Phoenix – KZN today (Monday).
According to the driver, he was alerted by a pedestrian who flagged him down and informed him that his vehicle was on fire. The man exited the vehicle and attempted to open the bonnet. The flames spread rapidly, consuming the car entirely before any firefighting efforts could commence.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on the scene and found the vehicle fully ablaze. The Ethekwini Fire & Rescue Services arrived shortly thereafter and successfully extinguished the fire.
The cause of the blaze remains unknown.
