The 2025 Chery International User Summit and Chery Brand Night recently took place in Wuhu, China. The event brought together user representatives, media, and brand partners from around the world to experience the automaker’s latest breakthroughs in intelligent mobility and user-driven innovation.
Co-creation in action: One vehicle, six configurations
At the opening of Chery Brand Night, Zheng Songzhi, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery International Marketing Centre, shared the R&D journey behind the world’s first seven-seater Transformable Multi-SUV. In February 2024, Chery assembled a team of 20 product experts who, over 300 days, conducted in-depth research across several international markets.
Through surveys of over 1,350 users and a market sample of over 40,000 respondents, the team gained insight into diverse user needs spanning work, family and leisure scenarios.
Centred around the concept of “space freedom,” this vehicle introduces a “6=1” formula. Through its flexible seating configuration and quick-release rear panel design, it boasts six different interior and exterior combinations. Three key configurations were highlighted at the launch:
- A seven-seater SUV with a 2,900 mm wheelbase and 69.5% space utilisation rate;
- a dual-row pickup offering 600 litres of cargo space;
- and an eco-camping mode featuring an intelligent power system and off-road capability with 700 mm wading depth.
“South Africans value practicality and freedom, whether it’s a school run in the city or a long drive to the coast,” says Verene Petersen, National Brand and Marketing Manager for Chery South Africa. “The Transformable Multi-SUV captures that spirit perfectly – one vehicle that adapts effortlessly to every journey.”
Additional information regarding the Transformable Multi-SUV will be communicated at a later date.
Intelligent innovation: AiMOGA robotics and the future mobility ecosystem
As part of the summit, the 2025 AiMOGA Global Business Conference was held. AiMOGA Robotics unveiled its new global brand strategy, a dual-driven system integrating automotive engineering and robotics to create an open, collaborative, and intelligent ecosystem.
Xia Peng, Executive Vice General Manager at AiMOGA, noted that after three years of R&D, the company achieved a leap from L2 to L3 assistance-level capability, laying the foundation for its “human assistant” positioning.
AiMOGA has already achieved EU certification for its humanoid robot and expanded into over 20 countries, including South Africa. AiMOGA aims to establish a global robotics ecosystem through “global coverage, real-time response, and full-dimensional support.”
