Community and CPF members applauded for the recovery of an unlicensed firearm and the arrest of the suspect in Modjadjiskloof

POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has applauded members of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) and local community members for their outstanding cooperation, which led to the recovery of an unlicensed firearm and the arrest of a 32-year-old suspect on Saturday, 11 October 2025, at about 18:00.

According to information received, a group of CPF members and community residents arrived at the Modjadjiskloof Police Station together with a male suspect whom they alleged had been seen carrying an unlicensed firearm at Mokgoba Village. The group managed to apprehend the suspect and brought him, along with the recovered firearm fitted with a magazine and two blank rounds, to the police Station Preliminary investigation revealed that the firearm was stolen in Seshego in October 2024.

Upon further investigation, it was established that the suspect is an undocumented foreign national. He was formally arrested and is expected to appear before the Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 October 2025 on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and contravention of the Immigration Act.

“We appreciate the community’s continued partnership with the police. This arrest and firearm recovery demonstrate the power of collaboration in rooting out criminal elements from our communities,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

Police investigations are ongoing.
