Gauteng police seize counterfeit goods worth over R8 million

GAUTENG – The Gauteng Police have conducted a series of operations targeting counterfeit, contraband, and illicit goods across the province. Between 6 October 2025 and 16 October 2025, the Gauteng Counterfeit Unit, in collaboration with brand protectors, the Commercial Crimes Unit, and the Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens, carried out operations in Sandton, Johannesburg Central, Vanderbijlpark, Pretoria Central, Temba, and Jeppe.

The operations resulted in the seizure of counterfeit and illicit goods valued at approximately R8 367 200. A total of 58 250 items were confiscated, including: Counterfeit cellphone accessories, counterfeit toys, counterfeit consumables, counterfeit clothing and accessories and illicit pharmaceutical products.

The Gauteng Police remain committed to protecting consumers and businesses from counterfeit and illicit goods.
