Reaction Officers responding to a call for assistance in Mhlasini – KZN this evening (Saturday 22:56) discovered a man with approximately twenty-two (22) stab wounds to his body and throat.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received calls for assistance from residents in the area after a man was stabbed by his friend.
Upon arrival, Reaction Officers found the body of a male lying face up, having sustained fatal injuries. A man at the scene claimed responsibility for the killing, stating that he resided in the same building as the deceased and that they had been consuming alcohol together. The deceased and his girlfriend got into an altercation, prompting the friend/suspect to intervene, which led to a fatal confrontation.
The deceased was in possession of the knife which he produced during the fight. The friend/suspect also drew a knife that was used in the killing.
The suspect was handed over to the South African Police Services (SAPS).
