Roadblock on the N2 Ngwempisi Road between Ermelo and Mkhondo

As part of the October Transport Month (OTM) activities, the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison traffic law enforcement officers today (22 October 2025) led a K78 Roadblock on the N2 Ngwempisi Road between Ermelo and Mkhondo.

The roadblock was supported by Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport (Transport Inspectorate Unit), Mkhondo traffic officers, members of the South African Police Service and Crime Prevention Wardens (CPW).

Over 280 vehicles were stopped and checked, and 25 fines were issued to motorists for different violations.

The Automated Number Plate Recognition vehicle commonly known as Nyamsoro collected R31 950 from motorists who had unpaid fines.

Today’s roadblock is one of many activities that the Department is conducting together with stakeholders to ensure safety of road users during this Transport Month and beyond.
