WESTERN CAPE – On Friday, 17 October 2025 at 13:30, Kirstenhof SAPS Crime Prevention Unit received information of a person in possession of an illegal firearm at a premises in Lynx Way, Westlake.
The members approached the premises and conducted a search of the entire premises and its occupants. During the search they discovered a 9mm pistol with 13 9mm rounds of ammunition. Two adult males were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. On further investigation it was discovered that the firearm was reported stolen in Kenilworth in December 2022.
In an unrelated matter, Riebeeck West SAPS members arrested an adult male on Friday, 17 October 2025 at 18:35, for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, including the possession of suspected stolen property. The members received information that a firearm that was stolen during a housebreaking and theft case earlier the day at a premises in Cederberg Crescent, Riebeeck West. They immediately followed up the information and traced the suspect where he was found in possession of the mentioned firearm and ammunition.
On Friday, 17 October 2025, Milnerton Saps members conducted stop and search operations in the area of Du-Noon in Milnerton when they arrested a suspect for the illegal possession of mandrax. While conducting the stop and search operations in Du-Noon they spotted a suspicious looking person and immediately searched him and they found 250 mandrax tablets on him. The suspect was arrested and detained at Milnerton SAPS.
On Saturday, 18 October 2025 at 00:30, SAPS members received information of a firearm at an address at Aspeling Court, Lavender Hill. Upon their arrival at the premises a female occupant admitted to being in possession of a firearm, allegedly given to her by a local gang grouping for safekeeping. She pointed out the 9mm firearm hidden in a top-drawer in a cupboard. She was arrested and the firearm was handed in as exhibit.
All suspects will appear in the Wynberg, Cape Town and Riebeek West Magistrates’ courts respectively once charged.
