NELSPRUIT – Members of the Ehlanzeni District Crime Prevention Team have arrested a 40-year-old male in possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition in the Bushbuckridge area.
According to a report, on Friday, 24 October 2025, at approximately 22:00, the team received information about a man in possession of a firearm at a certain tavern in Mandela Village, Bushbuckridge. It was further reported that the suspect was wanted in connection with other cases being investigated by Bushbuckridge SAPS.
The members immediately proceeded to the identified tavern and, upon arrival, spotted a man matching the given description. They approached and searched him, leading to the discovery of an unlicensed firearm with about eight (08) live rounds of ammunition in his possession.
The suspect was apprehended and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition. Further investigation is underway to determine whether the suspect may have been involved in other criminal activities.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 October 2025.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, expressed gratitude for the arrest made by the members, as well as the recovery of the firearm with ammunition.
