Three suspects nabbed in connection with a series of business robbery cases in Polokwane

POLOKWANE – The Police in Limpopo and Mpumalanga have arrested three suspects, aged between 39 and 42, during an intelligence-driven operation in Kanyamazane Township, Mpumalanga, on Thursday, 02 October 2025.

The arrests follow a spate of business robberies that targeted several stores in Polokwane Central Business District (CBD). On 10 August 2025, the gang robbed Pep Store; on 16 August 2025, they attacked Studio 88; and on 02 September 2025, they robbed The Groom shop. In all three incidents, large quantities of clothing and cellphones were stolen.

Following these incidents, a dedicated team comprising of members from Limpopo the Provincial Investigations Unit and the Limpopo Tracking Team was established to trace and apprehend the perpetrators. The team was later joined by their Mpumalanga Tracking counterparts to strengthen the operation.

During the arrests in Kanyamazane, police recovered stolen property valued at approximately R150 000, which included items taken during the Polokwane robberies.

The suspects will first appear before the Kanyamazane Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 03 October 2025, on charges of possession of suspected stolen property. Thereafter, they will be transported to Polokwane, where they are expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 06 October 2025, facing three counts of business robbery.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has applauded the operational teams from Limpopo and Mpumalanga for their dedication and excellent collaboration. “These arrests demonstrate the effectiveness of joint policing operations across provinces and reinforce our commitment to dealing decisively with organised criminal groups,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
