Two suspects arrested for possession of suspected stolen livestock valued at more than R150 000

Two suspects aged between 41 and 34, appeared before the Ngcobo Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday, 01 October 2025, facing allegations of possession of suspected stolen livestock valued at more than R150 000.

According to reports, on 30 September 2025 at about 14:00, Ngcobo police received information about the pair allegedly being in possession of a herd of stolen cattle. Acting on the tip-off, police swiftly responded and apprehended the suspects.

Further investigation led the police to an Isuzu bakkie that had allegedly been used in the commission of the crime. The vehicle was found concealed in a nearby forest.

During their first appearance, the driver of the bakkie, was released due to insufficient evidence linking him to the case. However, one suspect was remanded in custody and is scheduled to reappear in court on 08 October 2025 for a formal bail application.
