Northern Cape: Flying Squad members in Kimberley led by Captain Monwabisi Collen Qunta had a predawn stop and search operation in Galeshewe focusing on vehicles ferrying children to Schools.
There was an outctry by concerned residents of Galeshewe of taxis and bakkies transporting children packed like sardines.
Sedans, taxis and bakkies overloaded with learners were stopped and drivers were issued with fines amounting to R11 000 for contravening the Road Traffic Act.
Similar operations will be conducted from time to time to ensure that the roads around Kimberly are safe.
