Qumbu police quickly responded to a business robbery in the Qumbu CBD on Wednesday, 04 June 2025 at about 14:30 and arrested three male suspects aged between 22 and 28 from New Homes residential area – Qumbu.
As police pounced on the suspects whilst inside the shop, the suspects were busy collecting cash from the tills and a safe and one of the suspects was in possession of a firearm which turned out to be a toy gun. Preliminary police investigation linked the three suspects to other business robberies that had occurred in town and suspected stolen goods were recovered in their residences believed to be stolen in a business robbery in town.
The trio was arrested and charged for attempted business robbery and possession of suspected stolen property with more charges likely to be added as police are busy linking them to other committed business burglaries.
Police will leave no stone unturned in the investigation and will gather all concrete evidence for a successful prosecution of the suspects for a long jail sentence”, said the Acting OR Tambo District Commissioner Brigadier Vukile Ntuli in commending police for job well-done.
