A high-impact, intelligence-driven operation dubbed “Ops Knock Knock” has led to the arrest of two suspects linked to a series of house robberies in the Sekhukhune District. The operation was conducted between Friday, 18 July 2025 and Saturday, 19 July 2025 by members of Burgersfort Detectives, Sekhukhune District Task Team, and Public Order Policing (POP).
The team acted on intelligence that identified a red Dodge Chrysler without registration plates, believed to be used in recent house robberies. The vehicle was intercepted in the Sekhukhune policing area.
The suspects attempted to evade arrest, leading to a high-speed chase. They opened fire on police members, who returned fire. The suspects eventually abandoned the vehicle in the bush and fled on foot.
Relentless tracking continued through the night. A 32-year-old suspect originally from Daveyton, Gauteng was arrested on Sunday morning, 20 July 2025 at 06:00. A second suspect, aged 41, was apprehended later in the nearby village.
The third suspect, considered the most dangerous and allegedly in possession of a firearm, is still at large. Efforts to trace him are ongoing.
The arrested suspects have been positively linked to at least three house robberies committed in Apel in February and July 2025.
Police seized the red Dodge Chrysler, three cellphones, and one 9mm pistol with an empty magazine.
Charges include attempted murder (for shooting at police), possession of an unlicensed firearm, and multiple counts of house robbery.
The suspects will appear before the respective Magistrate’s courts on Monday, 21 July 2025.
