During last week’s 67 minutes on Mandela Day, the MasterDrive team had the opportunity to spend time with the residents of Logwood Village at an event organised by Avis. The residence provides a loving and supportive home for adults with various intellectual and developmental disabilities.
MasterDrive was privileged to contribute much needed necessities at the home including cleaning products and clothing items donated by employees. Team members then spent time with residents in a pebble painting craft activity that was thoroughly enjoyed. This demonstrates that even a small act of kindness can have a lasting impact.
The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says it reaffirms their unwavering commitment to community social investment. “Mandela Day serves as a catalyst for meaningful engagement with communities. It is a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to uplift those around us.
“Participating in these initiatives shows an appreciation for the organisations that exist within our business ecosystems, and which require nurturing and support. The operators of Logwood Village said the residents had not been involved in such an initiative for six years, which is a sad indictment considering the joy it brought to the residents.”
It is also a reminder to all South Africans that commitment to social investment extends far beyond the symbolic 67 minutes. “Sustainable community development requires consistent, year-round engagement. Every organisation, regardless of size or sector, is interconnected with the communities in which they serve.
“Our success is intrinsically linked to the wellbeing of those around us. Community investment is not just a moral imperative, but a business necessity. MasterDrive encourages all organisations to continue giving back throughout the year. Whether this is through time investment, donations or direct support, there are countless opportunities to make a meaningful difference.”
MasterDrive challenges other organisations to join them in making community upliftment a cornerstone of their operations. “This will ensure that Madiba’s legacy continues to inspire positive change every day of the year. Thank you to Avis for providing the opportunity to participate,” says Herbert.
