A 28-year-old female returning from a medical facility after a routine check-up went into labour while walking along Moss Street in the Verulam CBD, KwaZulu-Natal (today).
Her mother attempted to request an e-hailing service; however, the woman progressed rapidly into labour and began delivering the baby in public.
Concerned onlookers immediately contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance. RUSA Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and found that a healthy baby boy had already been delivered.
Both the mother and newborn were stabilised and transported to hospital by ambulance for further medical care.
