The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Tracing Unit, Task Team and Kingsway Precinct Officers, in collaboration with Putfontein South African Police Service (SAPS) detectives, arrested three (3) male suspects aged between thirty-six (36) and sixty(60) for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and contravention of immigration laws. Officers also recovered two stolen and hijacked vehicles in the Springs and Benoni areas.
During an operations in the Springs area, Officers encountered two undocumented foreign nationals who failed to produce any form of identification. The suspects were arrested and detained for further processing.
In a separate operation, the Tracing Unit Officers, working alongside Putfontein SAPS detectives, arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in the Putfontein area.
Meanwhile, Officers from the Eastern Region Task Team acted on information regarding a stolen vehicle and traced an abandoned white Toyota Land Cruiser V8 station wagon to Dongeza Street in Etwatwa West, Daveyton. Preliminary investigations confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Krugersdorp.
In a further recovery, Kingsway Precinct Officers located an abandoned hijacked motor vehicle in the Lindelani area shortly after it had been hijacked from its owner.
The arrested suspects were detained at the relevant police stations and are expected to appear before court soon.
