Police in Badplaas in Mpumalanga have arrested two suspects, aged 38 and 43, for possession of live ammunition, #StockTheft, and illegal hunting during the early hours of 22 April 2026 at approximately 02:40.
Police were conducting routine patrols when they were alerted by a security company about suspects who had been apprehended for alleged illegal hunting. Upon arrival at the scene, members found the two suspects and questioned them.
One suspect was found in possession of a licensed firearm with 15 rounds of ammunition and a magazine. Police also noticed bloodstains on the suspects’ clothing, as well as two carcasses – one of a wild animal and another of a cow – which had been slaughtered.
Three cellphones were found in the suspects’ possession. The suspects alleged that the devices belong to a third suspect who fled the scene prior to the arrival of the police.
Various exhibits including the licensed firearm were seized for further investigation.
The two suspects are expected to appear at the Emanzana Periodical Court today, 23 April 2026. Investigations are ongoing.
