Parkhurst: On Tuesday the 11th/02/2015 just before 14:00 Parkview police arrived at a scene at 13th street Parkhurst, Johannesburg, and arrested a 30 year old male following a call of help from the local security control room, concerning a suspect who was on the run after he was witnessed through street surveillance cameras stealing from a vehicle parked on the street.
The said suspect was then apprehended searched and 1car-jammer device, 1Samsung galaxy tablet, 1Garmini navigator, 2 car chargers and several pieces of spark-plugs were found in his position. The grateful owner of the vehicle that was broken into was also on the scene and she positively identified the stolen items as hers.
As the area has recently been experiencing a spike in theft out of motor vehicles incidents, Parkview SAPS members (Captain Sandile Mkhize and Sergeant Peter Mpofu) Immediately followed-up on leads, and investigations led them to Johannesburg CBD at a pawn-shop where Fake bank-notes, illegal substances (drugs), several suspected stolen items were found and seized following the owner of the shop running way upon seeing the police in the company of the suspect presumably known to him entering his shop.
The suspect is in custody and will appear at Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges of theft out of motor vehicle as well as possession of stolen property.
