Crisis medical paramedics received a call for a motor vehicle collision on the N2 north at Petroport during the early hours of this morning.
On arrival paramedics found that a utility vehicle had collided with a concrete block at high speed. The occupant of the vehicle, a male of 36 years old sustained moderate injuries. He was treated on scene by Crisis Medical paramedics before being transported to hospital for further care.
According to eyewitness reports the vehicle was traveling northbound on the N2 at high speed before taking the Queen Nandi Drive offramp. The vehicle lost control, veering into Petroport at high speed. The vehicle narrowly missed the petrol pumps in the gas station before it collided with the concrete block, eventually coming to a stop several meters further on.
All the necessary authorities were in attendance and will be investigating the incident further.
