Five people were injured following a single-vehicle crash on Oakford Road near Redcliffe, KZN yesterday (Saturday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on the scene at approximately 17:12 and located a grey VW Polo several meters into a bush. It was established that five people were in the vehicle when the driver lost control, collided with several light poles and ended up in a bush. The occupants of the vehicle suffered injuries and were transported to the hospital privately prior to the arrival of First Responders.
While the vehicle was being salvaged a white Nissan NP 200 bakkie collided with a tow truck. The driver of the bakkie was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested by Police.
No injuries were reported at the secondary collision.
