The police in Dennilton under Sekhukhune District arrested a 28-year-old suspect for possession of illicit cigarettes on Sunday, 18 February 2024, at around 10:35 in the morning.
It is reported, that Dennilton Crime Prevention members were on their routine daily work of stop and searches along R25 Uitspanning, when a sliver grey Toyato Corolla was stopped but the driver sped-off followed by another white NP200 bakkie.
Police chased for the two vehicles, and the drivers stopped their vehicles at Five Morgan Philadelphia main road and ran on foot. One suspect aged 28 was cornered and arrested for possession of Illicit Cigarettes. The other suspect managed to flee the scene. The two vehicles loaded with illicit cigarettes worth R150 000 were confiscated.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has lauded the members for being vigilant while performing their duties and arresting the suspect.
The arrested suspects will appear before Dennilton Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 20 February 2024.
The police investigation is ongoing.
