The police in Gauteng arrested five more suspected illegal miners during Operation Vala Umgodi in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni District, on Wednesday, 06 March 2024.
The integrated Operation Vala Umgodi led to the disruption and dismantling of yet another illegal mining activity in the province.
To ensure that no such an operation continues again, the police confiscated tools used by the illegal miners that include the following:
– 3 Pendukas
– 1 20l can petrol
– 6 gasoline water pump
– 1 extension cord
– 3 water pipes
– 5 pik
– 4 stamper
– 1 chisel
– 10 shovels
– 1 hammer
– 1 penduka stand
– 1 crush pot
The Operation Vala Umgodi will continue in Gauteng until all illegal mining activities are closed down.
