Mi7 National Group’s Control Room received reports that a blue Corsa was stolen in the Pietermaritzburg area during the early hours of that morning.
All Reaction Officers on duty were made aware of the vehicle’s description and asked to maintain a look out. Then, around 11pm, word was received that the stolen vehicle was travelling on Dr Chota Motala Road.
Mi7 teams sprung to action, setting up strategic blocks across several intersections in the surrounding area. Minutes later, a Mi7 Reaction Officer spotted the vehicle on Birmingham Road and gave chase.
A high speed pursuit ensued, with Reaction Officers closely behind the driver of the stolen vehicle, who was driving increasingly recklessly to get away. Reaction Officers eased off slightly, in fear that the driver may cause harm to other road users.
Eventually, the vehicle was found abandoned in Panorama Gardens.
