The determination by police members to rid communities of firearms yielded success when they arrested a suspect for the illegal possession of a firearm in the early hours of Monday morning.
Members of the Grassy Park Crime Prevention Unit searched a premises in Haron Road, Eagle Park, after they received information of a firearm at the premises. They found A 9mm pistol with 56 rounds of ammunition hidden in the bedroom and arrested an adult male for the illegal possession thereof.
He will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ court on Wednesday.
In Robertson, members of Robertson Crime Prevention Unit executed a search warrant in Entlango Street, where they confiscated 5,148 kilogram of dagga. An adult male was arrested for dealing in dagga.
He will in the Robertson Magistrates’ court tomorrow.
