Members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team and the Counterfeit and Illicit Foods Policing Team conducted an intelligence-driven operation in the Muizenberg policing precinct to curb gang violence and shootings on Tuesday.
The members searched a premises in Beach Road, Vrygrond, and seized a 9mm pistol with 20 rounds of ammunition, one imitation firearm, and rifle parts. A 33-year-old male is facing charges in terms of the Firearms Control Act and will appear in the Muizenberg Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged.
Crime prevention initiatives will continue in the Muizenberg area in an effort to curb gang violence and rid the area of firearms in the hands of criminals
