The SAPS Provincial Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) continues to make significant strides in removing suspected stolen goods and illicit items from the streets of Mangaung. This follows the successful arrest of a 40-year-old suspect in Heidedal on Friday afternoon.
On Friday, 20 February 2026, at approximately 13:30, members of the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit were conducting proactive patrols when they received a tip-off regarding a residence in Heidedal where stolen property and dangerous goods were allegedly kept.
The team acted swiftly on the intelligence and proceeded to the identified address. Upon arrival, they met an adult male occupant. During the search, members discovered Twenty-three containers filled with 550 liters of diesel, with an estimated value of approximately R11,000, and a white Opel Corsa Bakkie, used in the commission of a crime and possibly stolen was also confiscated.
The 40-year-old suspect was immediately placed under arrest for being in possession of suspected stolen property and is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the diesel and whether the suspect can be linked to other crimes in the Mangaung Metro.
