A strong and visible police presence continues to make an impact across Limpopo, as the South African Police Service (SAPS) ramps up coordinated, high-density operations aimed at curbing crime. During operations conducted between 02 February and 08 February 2026, a total of 966 suspects were arrested for various offences.
Police also recovered eight firearms, along with five rounds of ammunition, underscoring the ongoing drive to remove illegal weapons from communities and restore safety across the province.
The arrests include suspects linked to the following serious crimes:

▶️ 10 Rape
▶️ 46 Illegal mining
▶️ 01 Human trafficking
▶️ 03 Theft of motor vehicles and motorcycles
▶️ 25 Malicious damage to property
▶️ 77 Contravention of the Immigration Act (illegal immigrants)
▶️ 69 Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH)
▶️ 53 Common assault
▶️ 08 Illegal possession of firearms and 05 illegal possession of ammunition
▶️ 09 Possession of dangerous weapons
▶️ 50 Possession of drugs
▶️ 126 Illegal dealing in liquor
▶️ 34 Driving under the influence of alcohol
▶️ 13 Burglary at residential premises
▶️ 03 Burglary at business premises
▶️ 01 Carjacking
Items confiscated during the operations include:

▶️ 2,571 kg of dagga
▶️ 8.47 g of crystal meth
▶️ 0.002 g of heroin
▶️ 0.7 g of nyaope
Operational actions conducted:

▶️ 349 Second-hand goods dealers inspected: notices issued – 03
▶️ 211 Scrap yards searched
▶️ 10,776 Informal businesses, including spaza shops, inspected for compliance with labour legislation
▶️ 16,219 Persons searched
▶️ 8,749 Vehicles searched
▶️ 4,540 Stop-and-search operations conducted
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, praised the proactive policing efforts of members and underscored the importance of accountability.
The arrested suspects have already appeared before various Magistrates’ Courts.
