Police have arrested a 49-year-old suspect for possession of a presumed stolen motor vehicle along the N4 at the Nkomazi Toll Plaza near Kaapmuiden on 04 February 2026.
According to reports, at about 15:05, members of the Vehicle Identification Section (VIS), together with SAPS members from Kaapmuiden and other police units, were conducting routine patrols along the N4 road. During the operation, members noticed a white Toyota GD-6 with Mpumalanga registration plates travelling towards the toll gate. The vehicle was immediately stopped for inspection.
Police approached the driver, identified themselves and requested to conduct a search, as well as a circulation check on the vehicle. The circulation returned positive, indicating that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Emalahleni. A case had been opened at SAPS Vosman.
The suspect alleged that he had collected the vehicle from a car wash in Nelspruit and was instructed to drop it off in Malelane town. The suspect was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Barberton Magistrate’s Court today, 05 February 2026, on the relevant charges.
