A man was arrested by Reaction Officers after allegedly stabbing another male in the neck on Pricklepear Road in Waterloo – KZN this afternoon (Saturday, 13/06/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene at approximately 20:32 following reports of a stabbing. On arrival, the victim’s brother informed Reaction Officers that his older sibling had been stabbed in the neck and transported privately to hospital. He further stated that the alleged assailant was still in the vicinity.
Reaction Officers proceeded on foot towards the scene where the attack had occurred. The suspect fled when he noticed the approaching Officers. A foot chase ensued during which the 25-year-old was apprehended. During questioning, he admitted to stabbing the complainant’s older brother.
It was alleged that the victim and the suspect became involved in an argument outside a tavern in Waterloo – KZN when the suspect produced a kitchen knife and stabbed the man before fleeing.
The circumstances surrounding the altercation could not be immediately established.
The suspect was detained at the South African Police Service (SAPS) Verulam – KZN for further investigation.
