A Security Officer was killed and two of his colleagues were seriously injured in a drive-by shooting on North Beach Road in Umdloti, KZN a short while ago (Tuesday).
The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received multiple calls from beach goers at approximately 18:57 after the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz opened fired with high calibre rifles on a white Toyota Corolla with LSC VIP Protection branding in the vicinity of the tidal pool. The suspects then sped off.
All available Reaction Officers and RUSA Medics were dispatched to the scene and on arrival discovered that a man seated behind the driver was killed. Paramedics from a private ambulance service were in the process of conducting Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on the driver. A third person was shot in the arm while a fourth occupant of the vehicle fled when the shooting started and returned to the scene thereafter. Several spent high calibre cartridges were recovered at the scene.
Circumstances behind the shooting has not been confirmed at this stage.
