The bodies of Sophie Xulu & Zanele Mabuso were discovered in a shallow grave outside their school on Friday (18/08/2023).
Both women were murdered on Woman’s Day (09/08/2023) while preparing for a function which was being hosted at Thembeni Crèche in Umgababa – KZN the following day. A Security Officer based at the school informed their families that Xulu (70) & Mabuso (62) were seen boarding a white Toyota Avanza with a GP registration on the day of their disappearance. He alleged that they proceeded to a supermarket to make purchases for the school function.
Xulu’s grandson contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) on Tuesday (15/08/2023) requesting assistance to locate the elderly women. Their bodies were discovered by SAPS Officials in a shallow grave near the school gates after specialised Police dogs were utilised to conduct a search of the premises. The Security Officer was arrested for the murders.
The motive for the executions has not been established at this stage.
