Operation Vala Umgodi continues to yield positive results as seven suspects who are illegal immigrants were arrested in Primrose, Ekurhuleni District, on Saturday, 03 May 2025.
The team, that is deployed to dismantle all illegal mining activities in Gauteng, descended to Makause Informal Settlement where they found suspects busy with illegal mining.
The seven suspects were cornered and arrested. Police seized tools that are used for illegal mining consisting of pendukas, gas cylinders, water pump motors, steel balls, generators, sand crusher, cutting torch and steel stamper.
During this operation, police also discovered rifle and revolver ammunition.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear before Germiston Margistrate Court on Monday, 05 May 2025.
