The determination of police officers to create safer environments for the communities led to the detention of two men who were found in possession of firearms and ammunition without a valid licence on Friday 06 June 2025 in isolated incidents.
Woodstock police were busy with crime combatting initiatives when they spotted a man walking in their direction in Chamberlain Street. When the man saw the patrol vehicle, he changed direction, which resulted in the police members giving chase, which led to the search of the man and the confiscation of a pistol with ammunition. They detained the man for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
In an unrelated intervention, Ravensmead police responded to information which led them to Beverly Court. Upon entering the area, they saw three males who acted suspicious when they changed their direction. The members pursued and apprehended one male inside a flat. Upon searching the premises, they recovered a 9mm Z88 Pistol with ammunition and detained the man for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Cape Town and Goodwood Magistrates’ courts on the mentioned charges.
