While patrolling in Katlehong and surrounding areas, the Gauteng Traffic Police and Gauteng Traffic Wardens (STT EC) were dispatched by the OCC following reports of a male suspect robbing members of the public of their cellphones.
The suspect was apprehended at Sontonga Mall. During further investigation, he led law enforcement to a cellphone technician on Hospital Road who had purchased the six stolen cellphones, some of which were positively identified by the victims.
The second suspect was also arrested for intentionally buying stolen goods.
