A shot was fired by fleeing suspects after the victim screamed for assistance during a home invasion at Hammonds Farm – KZN during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the scene at approximately 02:17 after receiving reports of a home invasion and gunfire. On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered the front door of the residence had been violently broken down.
According to the 37-year-old female, she was asleep when she was abruptly awoken by the sound of her door being kicked in. Before she could react, four men had already forced their way into her home. One of the intruders was armed with a firearm.
The suspects demanded the woman’s mobile phone. The assailants fled empty-handed after the female resisted and called out for assistance. A single shot was fired during their escape.
No injuries were reported.
