A clampdown on illicit drug outlets in Dysselsdorp outside Oudtshoorn, led to the arrest of 11 suspects for drug-related offences and the confiscation of drugs with an estimated street value of R90 000.00 during mid-week crime-combating operations.
On Tuesday, 14 April 2026, Dysselsdorp Crime Prevention members raided five premises following information on illicit activities at residences situated at Donkerhoek, Bernadus Gronde and Paradise View in Dysselsdorp. These efforts resulted in the confiscation of 133 mandrax tablets, 250 grams, 11 bankies of tik, as well as small quantities of mandrax. The suspects, aged between 21 and 56, were arrested on charges of possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.
They remain in police custody and will appear in court once charged.
In an unrelated matter, George Crime Prevention Unit members arrested seven suspects after presumed stolen items were found in their possession on Monday, 13 April 2026, at about 17:00.
Reports indicate that police responded to information about a vehicle, a Toyota Fortuner, with suspected stolen items travelling along the N2 highway in George. They pursued the vehicle and brought it to a halt near the entrance to Herolds Bay. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of several merchandise, hygiene products, and medical items. These items were reportedly stolen from several stores in the Garden Route District. The occupants of the vehicle were unable to account for their possession thereof and were arrested.
The total value of the recovered items is yet to be determined. It forms part of the ongoing police investigation.
The suspects, four men and three women, are facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property and will appear in court once charged. More charges could be added as the investigation unfolds.
