Marshall Security Armed Response Officers were conducting routine patrols in the Sea Cow Lake area when they observed two males carrying a large roll of copper cables along Hendon Road.
Upon noticing the presence of the responding officers, both suspects dropped the roll of copper cables and attempted to flee on foot. Officers immediately pursued the suspects, successfully apprehending one male at the scene. The second suspect unfortunately managed to evade arrest after fleeing into a nearby densely vegetated area.
The arrested suspect was unable to provide a reasonable explanation as to how he had come into possession of the copper cables.
Greenwood Park SAPS were contacted and arrived on scene a short while later. The suspect was subsequently transported to the police station for further processing and investigation.
This incident once again highlights the importance of proactive patrols and the vigilance of security personnel in combating property-related crime and protecting community infrastructure.
