Two vehicles were gutted by fire after a drug user fell asleep while consuming narcotics in one of the cars.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to a workshop on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD. On arrival, a Fiat Uno and a Land Rover were completely engulfed in flames.
A female informed Reaction Officers that she was homeless and decided to spend the night in a Fiat Uno that was found unlocked. She lit a candle and smoked Heroin in the vehicle before falling asleep. She was awoken by intense heat and found the car on fire. She grabbed her blanket and sought assistance from a service station. The flame from the Fiat Uno spread to a Land Rover that was parked next to it. The blaze was extinguished by the Ethekwini Fire & Rescue Services.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged.
