On Monday, 21 December 2020, members of Crime Intelligence requested the assistance of the Western Cape Provincial Integrated Task Team to breach, secure, and search a possible drug house at premises in Brighton Court, Camps Bay.
The location was monitored over a period of time from where the suspect is allegedly dealing in narcotics. The suspect is linked to a farm in Stellenbosch where he apparently cultivates dagga. Information was that the suspect is at the above-mentioned address and the members reacted to the information, gained entry, and arrested two suspects aged 45 and 50. They found a large number of drugs in the flat with an estimated street value of R250 000-00.
The suspects are detained and are due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court today on charges of possession with the intent to deal in narcotics.
In an unrelated matter on Sunday, 20 December 2020 at about 06:30, Mitchells Plain Proactive Team received information about a male with an illegal firearm at a house in 5th Avenue, Tafelsig. Upon arrival at the address, they found a male on the premises and noticed an object on his waist.
The suspects then became aggressive and tried to fight with the members, but was subdued. Police seized a .38 Special revolver with a serial number and three .38 Special rounds in the chamber. A 28-year-old male was arrested on charges relating to the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He is expected to appear in court once charged.
