North West Province: In our continuous efforts to tighten the grip against criminality, the Vehicle Crime Investigation Units (VCIU) in the province arrested 28 suspects and recovered 40 suspected stolen vehicles.
The operations were a joint effort of VCI Units from Rustenburg, Lehurutshe, Klerksdorp, and Mahikeng and were conducted between Tuesday, 1 December 2020 and Friday, 22 January 2021.
The objective of this operation was mainly to disrupt carjacking and motor vehicle theft activities in the province and follow up on information that was provided by the sources regarding these activities.
Vehicles confiscated range from sedans, light delivery vehicles (LDV), light passenger vehicles (Combis), trucks, trailers to motorbikes. The total value of all confiscated vehicles is estimated to be over R5 000 000.00.
The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena lauded all members who participated in the operations and urged members of the community to continue joining hands with the police in the fight against crime.
