Three men posing as customers robbed a convenience store in Hazelmere near Verulam a short while ago (Thursday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was informed of the robbery where the suspects fled in a grey light motor vehicle after stealing an undisclosed amount of cash. Reaction Officers were dispatched to the business premises at approximately 10:34.
On arrival, a 45 year old Ethiopian national explained that three suspects approached the business to purchase cigarettes. They were served through a hatch before they left. When he opened the security gate to accept a bread delivery the three men returned.
One suspect produced a firearm and assaulted him before robbing him of an undisclosed amount of cash which was hidden in his bedroom. They also robbed employees of a bread delivery company of their wallets before they fled in their getaway vehicle. No injuries were reported however the victim was visibly shaken.
Reaction Officers are currently searching for the suspects.
