Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga spent a cold and rainy day interviewing a number of men from different corners of Sterkspruit in Joe Gqabi District as she was accompanied by senior management to her visit to a taxi rank and shopping centre situated in Sterkspruit Central Business District (CBD) today, 14th August 2021.
According to the Provincial Commissioner, it is high time that men are engaged to deliberate on workable mechanisms to root gender based violence out of society. “We have been talking about how women and children are being victimised by men in different environments… It is now time to talk to men, to establish root causes of this scourge, and decide on workable mechanisms to fight gender-based violence.” the General explained.
To spread the word, Lieutenant General Ntshinga utilised local media, where she mobilised the community of Joe Gqabi District in the fight against gender based violence and femicide that is becoming prevalent in their environment.
Women’s Network, Men for Change and Junior Management Core have been engaging the community for the past few days, in an effort to ensure safe and secure environment.
