Today members of Tembisa SAPS arrested three suspects (aged between 27 and 42 years) in Emangweni Section for possession of a hijacked vehicle, unlicensed firearm and stolen property.
According to a preliminary report, the members were out on a crime prevention patrol when they identified a brown coloured VW Polo with three suspicious-looking occupants. Further investigation linked the vehicle to a hijacking case reported at Kempton Park SAPS.
The members attempted to intercept the suspects’ vehicle but the suspects sped off and a high-speed car chase ensued. The suspects collided into a barricade and attempted to flee on foot but they were successfully apprehended.
Police also recovered an unlicensed firearm with live rounds and a cellphone which is believed to have been stolen during the hijacking incident.
