A man was gunned down by a passerby he flagged down for assistance after his vehicle ran out of fuel on Buffels Drive Road in Buffelsdraai, KZN.
The deceased, his wife, and 13-year-old son were returning from the Verulam CBD, KZN after purchasing school clothes when their blue Honda Mobilio ran out of fuel approx 200 meters from their home. The 38-year-old flagged down a passing vehicle for assistance when a red Toyota Tazz stopped. The passenger exited the vehicle and without warning fired a volley of shots in his direction. The vehicle then sped off.
Residents contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) requesting medical assistance for the critically injured male. Reaction Officers and RUSA Medics were immediately dispatched to the scene. On arrival, the man was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to his head and chest. He demised prior to the arrival of First Responders.
His wife and teenage son who witnessed the murder were not injured.
