Following the release of the Limpopo Provincial Crime Statistics for the third quarter of 2021/2022 financial year, the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Honourable Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya extended endorsements to the District Commissioners to arrange with the Executive Mayors in their respective Districts to release the Crime Statistics for that same period.
Prior to the presentation of the statistics, the SAPS in Mopani District embarked on a multi-disciplinary operation held on the Magoebaskloof Road, the R71 in Tzaneen in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders comprising of the Traffic Department, Emergency Medical Services, Fire and Rescue, Community Policing Forum and Community in Blue; to launch the Arrive Alive Easter Road Safety campaign, hosted by the Mopani District Municipality.
The operation was conducted through roadblocks and stop and searches. During the launch, 10 people were arrested for contravention of the Immigration Act, 12 traffic summons were issued, 02 taxis were impounded and 01 discontinue notice issued.
Thereafter, the entourage assembled at the venue for the proceedings of the official release of the crime statistics.
The Easter operations are in full swing across the province, with the focus on heightened law enforcement and police visibility, patrols and a zero tolerance approach for lawlessness; in conjunction with various stakeholders and law enforcement agencies.
