Between Thursday 24 and Friday 25 August 2023, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bromberg Precinct Officers, recovered a reported hijacked vehicle and arrested a 28-year-old male for common robbery in the Putfontein and Daveyton area.
Following a tip off from a tracking company about a reported hijacked vehicle, the officers were led to Durant Street in the Putfontein area, where the vehicle was suspected to be parked. The hijacked vehicle, a white Toyota Hulix light delivery vehicle (LDV), was located abandoned in an open field and the registration number given by the tracking company, did not correspond with the registration plates affixed on the vehicle. The officers thoroughly inspected the vehicle and discovered that the registration plates inserted on the vehicle were false, and that the vehicle was reported hijacked with a case number of Mohlakeng Police Station.
In addition, the Officers arrested a 28-year-old African male suspect at his residence at Sindani Street, without any resistance, for common robbery. The complainant alleges that he was robbed by the suspect of his belongings, this includes his cellphone and wallet, and alleges that the instrument used in the commission of the crime was a bottle. The suspect was immediately arrested for common robbery and detained at the Daveyton Police Station expected to soon appear in the Magistrate court.
The EMPD commends its’ Officers for their dedication to serving and protecting the public, and for a job well done.
