The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Social Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) Officers visited Gugulesizwe, Morester and Madigoane primary schools, to roll out scholar patrol training and driver vehicle fitness, in the Daveyton and Springs areas.
The EMPD Officers, proceeded to the Daveyton and Springs areas, to engage learners and educators on abiding by the rules of the road. Officers shared knowledge on what to do and not do, when making use of the roadway. Educators, were also instructed on how to behave when driving, as Officers focused on back to basics.
Officers also took the opportunity, to conduct law enforcement, to check compliance and roadworthiness of vehicles in front of the school premises. A stern focus, was placed on driver, passenger and pedestrian safety, as well as discussions, on the responsibility of each person to ensure road safety, especially at schools.
The EMPD, welcomes the partnership with schools in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE), to support road safety and scholar transport compliance.
