The continuous deployment of police along entry roads to the province as part of ongoing Safer Festive Season yielded positive results with the confiscation of 554 bundles of Khat on a passenger bus at Laingsburg in the Central Karoo.
On Wednesday, 12 November 2025 at about 04:30, Laingsburg police members conducted a vehicle check point at the entrance to Laingsburg. The members pulled over a passenger bus and proceeded with a search of the vehicle when they found three boxes hidden near the chassis of the vehicle. The vigilant members opened the boxes stashed with Khat. Police confiscated the drugs and arrested both drivers.
The suspects, aged 46 and 51, are facing a charge of dealing in drugs each. They will appear in court once charged
