WESTERN CAPE – Anti-Gang Unit members remain resolute in the fight against gangsterism in the Western Cape. On Tuesday, 11 November 2025 at around 16:40, members posted in the Steenburg policing area, due to ongoing gang violence received information of a firearm at an address in Lucern Road, Lakeview, Retreat. Upon arrival, they spoke to a 36-year-old male who complied and showed the members where he hid the .38 revolver and 10 rounds of ammunition. The suspect was arrested for illegal possession of a prohibited firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition. He will make his first court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrate’s court.
Meanwhile, at around 17:00, Anti-Gang Unit members posted in Muizenberg went to an address in Xak’abantu, Vrygrond following intelligence. They found a 23-year-old male and while searching the premises, 25x 9mm rounds were seized. The 23-year-old suspect was arrested for illegal possession of ammunition. Members proceeded to house in Drury Road, Vrygrond at 18:30. They found 07 mandrax tablets and apprehended a 21-year-old suspect for possession of drugs.
Both suspects will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s court.
In another incident, the members were patrolling in Cloetsville, Stellenbosch, information received led them to a house in Eike Street where they recovered one small rusted brown firearm with eight rounds of ammunition. A gang affiliated male suspect was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. The suspect will make his court appearance in the Stellenbosch Magistrate’s court.
