At approximately 11:05 am Meditech Emergency Response recieved multiple calls regarding gunshots on Kassier road close to Shongweni club.
Initial reports were of a CIT robbery, but after receiving further updates it was established that it was an SAP operation to apprehend a single CIT robber.
A shootout ensued between police and the suspect.
The suspect was fatally wounded.
Meditech Emergency Response arrived on scene to find the suspect deceased.
Kassier road was closed off as it was an active crime scene.
Police investigations continue.
